A fitting solution
Swimming pool De Kalkwijck is the central municipal swimming pool of Hoogezand-Sappemeer. The pool is a part of Sports center De Kalkwijck that also features a sports- and events hall. By the ending of 2011, the pool was temporarily closed down by the municipality due to suspected problems with the construction of the ventilation ducts. The stainless construction was possibly damaged by the moist swimming pool air. Therefore, one hastily set up a search for a fitting solution to the problem.
More comfort, less energy usage
Advice group HTD reached out to the direction of the pool after hearing the story. The advisor indicated that it was not only possible to dispose of all air ducts, but also save up on energy while optimizing the interior climate. This could all be accomplished with a climate system by Climotion.
Before the implementation of the system, De Kalkwijck reached out to other pools that were already equipped with Climotion, and even had a swimming team test the interior climate. In the summer of 2012 the existing installation of the pool was converted to a Climotion installation. After a short period of testing, the direction decided to get rid of the old system fully and completely replace it with Climotion. In doing so, it was possible to remove all air ducts that were placed above the swimming area. The contrast with the former look of the pool, with yellow air ducts crossing the ceiling, is amazing. The responses are highly positive.
One supply point
In De Kalkwijck only one supply point is sufficient to climatise the full space (with a 25 meter pool).
